Target Information
J chain is a small glycopeptide synthesized by plasma cells that secrete polymeric immunoglobulins. It is linked to IgA and IgM by disulfide bonds, and has also been detected in IgG- and IgD-containing cells. J chains are abundant in immunoglobulin-positive cells within germinal centers of the tonsil and lymph node. Expression occurs early in B cell differentiation and persists in cells destined to produce IgA or IgM.
