Target Information

Myosin binding protein C, cardiac-type (MYBPC3) is a thick filament-associated protein located in the crossbridge region of vertebrate striated muscle A bands. In vitro, it binds MHC, F-actin, and native thin filaments. It modifies the activity of actin-activated myosin ATPase and may modulate muscle contraction or play a structural role.
Mutations affecting this gene can result in:

  • Cardiomyopathy, familial hypertrophic 4
  • Cardiomyopathy, dilated 1MM
  • Left ventricular non-compaction 10
