Target Information
YBX1 binds to splice sites in pre-mRNA and regulates splice site selection. This protein stabilizes cytoplasmic mRNA and modulates translation by affecting interactions between mRNA and eukaryotic initiation factors. It binds to promoters containing a Y-box sequence (5'-CTGATTGGCCAA-3'), such as HLA class II genes, and regulates transcription of multiple genes. YBX1 promotes DNA strand separation in mismatched or cisplatin-modified DNA, exhibits endonucleolytic activity, and may play a role in DNA repair.
