Histone H3 is a DNA-binding protein found in the chromatin of all eukaryotic cells. Together with four core histone proteins, it binds to DNA to form the nucleosome structure. Post-translational modifications of histones, such as methylation, acetylation, and phosphorylation, influence chromatin structure and gene expression. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 can undergo various modifications that affect cellular processes.
