Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the glycohydrolytic enzyme family that removes sialic acid residues from glycoproteins and glycolipids. Expression studies in COS7 cells confirmed the functional sialidase activity of NEU2. Cytosolic localization was demonstrated by cell fractionation experiments.
