Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a proinflammatory cytokine that induces IFN-gamma production in T cells. The combination of IL-18 and IL-12 inhibits IL-4–dependent IgE and IgG1 production and enhances IgG2a production in B cells. IL-18 binding protein interacts specifically with IL-18 and negatively regulates its biological activity.
