Product Specific Information
For IHC, use a streptavidin-biotin system or polymer system, incubating for 30 minutes at room temperature. Store as a concentrated solution. Centrifuge briefly prior to opening vial.
Target Information
Cytokeratin 19 is part of a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides.
Cytokeratins range in molecular weight from 40–68 kDa and isoelectric pH between 4.9–7.8. The various epithelia in the human body express cytokeratins that are characteristic of the epithelium type and its maturation or differentiation state.
Cytokeratin subtype expression patterns assist in distinguishing different epithelial malignancies. Cytokeratin antibodies are useful in differential tumor diagnosis, cytopathology, and flow cytometry.
Cytokeratin 19 is not expressed in hepatocytes, making it useful for identifying liver metastasis.
