Product Specific Information

The RM4-4 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD4 molecule, a 55 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by the majority of thymocytes, a subpopulation of mature T cells, and dendritic cells. CD4 binds to MHC class II on antigen-presenting cells and plays a key role in T cell development and optimal functioning. In T cells, CD4 associates with the protein tyrosine kinase Lck through its cytoplasmic tail. Binding of RM4-4 does not block binding of CD4 monoclonal antibodies RM4-5 or GK1.5.

Applications Reported: RM4-4 antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Recommended ≤0.015 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Titrate for optimal performance.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD4 antigen is involved in recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. It is primarily expressed in T helper cells and also found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 expression is detectable in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and some non-lymphoid tissues such as brain and gut. It contributes to early T-cell activation and may mediate neuronal damage in infectious or immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts are known (RefSeq, July 2017).
