Product Specific Information

The UCHT2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD5, a 67 kDa protein expressed by most thymocytes, mature T cells, and a subset of B cells. CD5 signaling activates T cells and mediates interactions with B cells through its ligand CD72, playing a key role in T-B cell communication and proliferation.

The UCHT2 antibody recognizes primate CD5 and is suitable for:

• Flow cytometric analysis
• Immunohistology staining of frozen tissue sections

Tested Application: Flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells.
Recommended usage: ≤ 1 µg per test (100 µL final volume).
Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test (optimize empirically).
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD5 is a 67 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on all mature T-lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and many T-cell leukemias and lymphomas. It is also found on a subset of activated B cells and may regulate T-cell proliferation. CD5 expression is observed on approximately 95% of thymocytes and 72% of peripheral blood lymphocytes, predominantly in T-cell areas of lymph nodes.
Diseases associated with CD5 dysfunction include thymus cancer and Richter’s Syndrome.
