Target Information

SIRT5 is a human member of the sirtuin family (Sir2-like proteins), found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. All Sir2-like proteins contain a conserved sirtuin core domain across species. Sirtuins metabolize NAD and may act as mono-ADP-ribosyltransferases. Although their enzymatic roles are not fully understood, studies suggest a coupled activation mechanism involving NAD metabolism and histone deacetylation mediated by Sir2.
