- In sandwich ELISAs, approximately 40% cross-reactivity with recombinant rat Leptin/OB and less than 0.2% with recombinant human Leptin/OB is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level: <0.10 EU per 1 µg of antibody (LAL method).
Target Information
Leptin is a 167 amino acid protein hormone (~16 kDa) encoded by the obese (ob) gene. It regulates body weight, metabolism, and reproductive function. Leptin is mainly secreted by adipocytes, with smaller amounts produced by stomach epithelium and placenta. Its receptors are highly expressed in the hypothalamus, T lymphocytes, and vascular endothelial cells, mediating effects on feeding behavior, energy expenditure, and thermogenesis. Leptin influences hematopoiesis, angiogenesis, wound healing, inflammation, immune responses, and reproductive development. Abnormal leptin signaling is implicated in obesity, anorexia nervosa, insulin resistance, and hypertension.
