Target Information
The C/EBP (CCAAT/enhancer binding protein) family of transcription factors — alpha, beta, delta, and epsilon — are widely expressed in various tissues. These proteins contain a conserved regulatory domain motif (RDM) with the consensus sequence (I/V/L)KXEP.
C/EBPs play key roles in metabolic regulation in liver and adipose cells and are involved in adipocyte differentiation.
Three C/EBP beta isoforms (LAP*, LAP, and LIP) arise from alternative translation initiation and differ in gene regulatory function.
C/EBPs are also implicated in neuronal processes such as nerve growth factor mediation, synaptic plasticity, and inflammatory response in Alzheimer’s disease.
