Hepatitis C Virus는 Flaviviridae 계통의 양성 단일가닥 RNA 바이러스로, 약 10,000 염기 길이의 유전체를 가지고 있으며 약 3,000 아미노산 길이의 단일 폴리단백질을 암호화합니다.
이 폴리단백질은 숙주 및 바이러스성 프로테아제에 의해 세 가지 주요 구조 단백질과 여러 비구조 단백질로 절단되어 바이러스 복제에 필수적인 역할을 합니다.
HCV의 여러 유전자형은 인터페론 알파 치료 반응의 차이와 관련이 있습니다.
