Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the CHD family of proteins characterized by chromo domains and SNF2-related helicase/ATPase domains.
CHD3 is a component of the histone deacetylase complex (Mi-2/NuRD complex), which remodels chromatin by deacetylating histones.
Chromatin remodeling is essential for transcription and other cellular processes.
Autoantibodies against this protein are found in some dermatomyositis patients.
Three alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described.
