Target Information
CD186, also known as CXCR6, is a G protein-coupled chemokine receptor that acts as one of the cellular receptors for HIV and SIV. It is expressed by NKT cells, various activated and memory T cell subtypes, and some plasma cells. Mouse liver NK cells, but not naïve or splenic NK cells, express CD186. Its ligand, CXCL16, is expressed by macrophages, dendritic cells, and liver endothelial cells. Due to its high expression on NKT cells, CD186 is frequently used as a marker for this cell subset.
