Target Information
CD186, also known as CXCR6, is a G protein–coupled chemokine receptor that serves as one of the cellular receptors for HIV and SIV. CD186 is expressed by NKT cells, various activated and memory T-cell subsets, and some plasma cells. In mice, liver NK cells—but not naïve or splenic NK cells—express CD186. Its ligand, CXCL16, is expressed by macrophages, dendritic cells, and liver endothelial cells. Due to its high expression on NKT cells, CD186 is often used as a proxy marker for this cell subset.
