Target Information
COQ10B (Coenzyme Q10) is a 247 amino acid mitochondrial protein encoded by the human gene COQ10B, belonging to the COQ10 family. It acts as a biological cofactor that enhances mitochondrial concentration and provides neuroprotective effects.
Plasma COQ10B levels are reduced in patients with advanced chronic heart failure and hyperthyroidism, while elevated in hypothyroid subjects. COQ10B levels are also related to adrenal hormone secretion, with thyroid hormones playing a dominant role in modulating COQ10B metabolism.
