Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in maintaining DNA integrity by preventing replication when DNA damage occurs. It plays a key role in the DNA damage-induced checkpoint network and ensures genomic stability under genotoxic stress.
When CHK1 function is inhibited, p53-deficient cancer cells undergo mitotic catastrophe and apoptosis, while normal cells remain arrested in G1 phase. Therefore, CHK1 is considered an attractive therapeutic target for cancer treatment, particularly in p53-deficient tumors.
