Target Information
Suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS) and cytokine-inducible SH2 proteins are intracellular regulators of cytokine responses in immune cells.
SOCS1 inhibits JAK tyrosine kinase activity, thereby modulating type I and II cytokine receptor signaling.
It also functions as an E3 ubiquitin ligase, promoting degradation of target proteins via polyubiquitination.
Through this mechanism, SOCS1 negatively regulates Toll-like receptor signaling (TLR2 and TLR4) by mediating degradation of the adaptor protein TIRAP.
