Specificity: Binds specifically to human CD98.
Target Information
CD98 (4F2) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as the heavy chain of heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HATs).
Linked to various light chains by disulfide bonds, CD98 is responsible for cell surface expression and basolateral localization of this transporter complex in polarized epithelial cells.
It also interacts with beta1 integrins, increasing their ligand affinity.
In addition to its role in amino acid transport, CD98 is involved in cell fusion and activation and plays a role in regulation of cellular differentiation, growth, and apoptosis.
