Target Information
USP7 (also known as HAUSP) is a ubiquitin-specific protease that removes ubiquitin from substrate proteins. This deubiquitylating activity stabilizes target proteins such as p53 by antagonizing the E3 ubiquitin ligase Mdm2. Through this mechanism, HAUSP plays a key role in regulating p53 stability and may act as a tumor suppressor by protecting p53 from degradation under stress conditions. Additionally, HAUSP may contribute to oncogenic signaling pathways involving Myc and E1A, providing an alternative mechanism for cellular protection against oncogenic stress.
