Target Information
EAF1 and EAF2 form a complex with ELL that targets the ternary elongation complex of Pol II, enhancing the rate of elongation. They are crucial for the stability of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex, which activates transcription through acetylation of histones H4 and H2A. Both proteins are ubiquitously expressed and colocalize with ELL in Cajal bodies and nuclear speckles. EAF1 has a C-terminal region rich in acidic and serine residues, while EAF2 is an androgen-responsive gene acting as a potent apoptosis inducer.
