LHX3 유전자는 LIM 도메인을 포함하는 단백질 패밀리의 구성원으로, 시스테인 풍부한 아연 결합 도메인을 특징으로 합니다. 이 단백질은 뇌하수체 발달과 운동 뉴런의 특이성에 필수적인 전사 인자입니다. 해당 유전자의 돌연변이는 복합 뇌하수체 호르몬 결핍 증후군과 경추 강직과 관련이 있습니다. 두 가지 상이한 아이소폼을 인코딩하는 전사체 변이가 확인되었습니다.
