Target Information

THOC5 is a component of the THO subcomplex of the TREX complex, which associates specifically with spliced mRNA. It functions in mRNA export by binding upstream of the exon-junction complex (EJC) and is recruited in a splicing- and cap-dependent manner near the 5′ end of mRNA. Recruitment involves interactions between THOC4 and cap-binding protein NCBP1. The TREX complex is essential for viral mRNA export and KSHV virus production. THOC5, together with THOC4, participates in NXF1-NXT1 mediated nuclear export of HSP70 mRNA and may play a role in granulocyte and adipocyte differentiation.
