PA1-981 detects c-Myc tagged proteins.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and immunofluorescence to detect c-Myc tagged proteins in transfected mammalian cells.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues C E(410) Q K L I S E E D L(419) of human c-Myc.
The immunizing peptide (PEP-035) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.

Myc is a proto-oncogene encoding a nuclear phosphoprotein involved in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation.
It forms a heterodimer with transcription factor MAX, binding to the E box DNA consensus sequence to regulate gene transcription.
Gene amplification is frequently observed in various human cancers.
Translocations are associated with Burkitt lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
Translation can initiate from both upstream non-AUG (CUG) and downstream AUG start sites, producing two isoforms with distinct N-termini.
