Target Information
Rab proteins are low-molecular-weight GTP-binding proteins forming the largest branch of the Ras superfamily of GTPases.
They are located on the cytoplasmic face of organelles and vesicles and are involved in intracellular membrane fusion reactions.
Rab proteins interact with SNAP-25, synaptobrevin, and syntaxin, which form the core membrane fusion complex with NSF and α-SNAP.
Together with Munc-18, Rab proteins mediate vesicle docking and fusion.
Over 40 Rab proteins have been described in mammals.
Rab11 is a known marker for protein trafficking, sorting, and recycling in the endosomal pathway.
