Target Information
Alkaline phosphatase (ALPL) is a homodimeric enzyme (~86 kDa) containing two zinc atoms per monomer, essential for catalytic activity. It functions optimally at alkaline pH and is found in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. ALP is involved in liver metabolism and skeletal development, and in microorganisms, it serves as a source of inorganic phosphate. In yeast, ALP is used as a model for studying membrane protein sorting.
