Target Information
West Nile Virus (WNV)는 Flaviviridae 계열의 플러스가닥 RNA 바이러스로, St. Louis encephalitis virus, yellow fever virus, Dengue virus 등을 포함합니다. 1937년 우간다의 West Nile 지역에서 처음 분리되었으며, 이후 아프리카, 아시아, 유럽 전역에 확산되었습니다. 미국에서도 대부분의 주에서 감염 사례가 보고되었습니다.
바이러스 입자는 RNA 게놈을 둘러싼 핵심 단백질(core/capsid protein)과 이를 감싸는 막 구조로 구성되어 있으며, envelope 및 matrix 단백질이 세포 내 침입에 중요한 역할을 합니다. Core 단백질은 caspase-9 경로를 통한 세포자멸사를 유도하여 염증 반응에 기여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
