Target Information
Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a pleiotropic immune-modulatory cytokine produced by activated T cells, serving as a ligand for the interleukin-4 receptor. IL-4 has a broad range of biological functions and shares overlapping activities with IL-13 due to receptor cross-binding. STAT6 plays a key role in mediating IL-4 signaling. The IL-4 gene is located on chromosome 5q, near IL-13 and IL-5, within a cytokine gene cluster regulated by long-range elements. IL-4 delta 2 is a known splice variant.
