PA1-10883 detects Rattin in rat samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures, where a band of approximately 5 kDa is detected.
The immunogen used is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 20–35 of Rattin.

Target Information

Rattin is a novel rat gene encoding a peptide homologous to Humanin, a secreted peptide that protects against neuronal cell death induced by beta-amyloid peptide (Ab) or mutations causing early-onset familial Alzheimer’s disease.
Rattin represents a new class of peptides phylogenetically related to Humanin, exhibiting protective activity against Ab and excitotoxic neuronal death.
The Rattin peptide consists of 38 residues (15 residues longer than Humanin) and shows 73% identity in the conserved region to Humanin.
