Target Information
Dual specificity phosphatases (DUSPs) deactivate target kinases by dephosphorylating both phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues. DUSPs are divided into six subgroups based on sequence similarity (PRLs, Cdc14 phosphatases, PTENs, myotubularins, MKPs, atypical DUSPs).
DUSP inhibitors may modulate MAPK and cellular responses. Expression and activity of DUSP family members control MAPK intensity and duration, influencing physiological responses.
DUSP12 (YVH1, GKAP) contains a DUSP catalytic domain and an extended C-terminal domain possibly related to glucokinase regulation. It is localized in both cytoplasm and nucleus.
