Suggested positive control: antigen standard for TUBB2A (transient overexpression lysate), human brain protein.

Target Information

Beta tubulins are one of two core protein families (alpha and beta) that heterodimerize to form microtubules. Beta-III tubulin is primarily expressed in neurons and may play roles in neurogenesis, axon guidance, and maintenance.
Mutations in the beta tubulin gene cause congenital fibrosis of the extraocular muscles type 3. Beta-III tubulin is also detected in Sertoli cells and transiently in non-neuronal embryonic tissues.
Tubulin undergoes post-translational modifications such as glutamylation and phosphorylation on Ser-172 by CDK1, affecting microtubule incorporation.
Microtubules, composed of alpha and beta tubulin dimers, are essential for mitosis, intracellular transport, and structural support. Beta-tubulin is ubiquitously expressed and often used as a loading control in protein assays like Western blotting.
