Target Information
CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a glycoprotein expressed on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors. It functions in platelet aggregation and serves as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, and vitronectin.
CD61 (105 kDa) associates with alpha IIb integrin (CD41) or alpha V integrin (CD51). It plays roles in cell adhesion and signaling.
Diseases associated with CD61 dysfunction include Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 Bleeding Disorder.
