Product Specific Information

  • IHC (P) analysis shows positive staining of KOR in human brain tissue.
  • WB analysis detects KOR in glycoprotein-enriched fractions from mock-transfected or KOR-overexpressing 293 cells.
  • Although the theoretical molecular weight (MW) of KOR is ~43 kDa, the observed band in WB runs at ~60 kDa due to glycosylation.

Target Information

The OPRK1 gene encodes an opioid receptor belonging to the seven transmembrane-spanning G protein-coupled receptor family. It acts as a receptor for both endogenous ligands and synthetic opioids, leading to inhibition of adenylate cyclase activity and neurotransmitter release. This receptor is involved in pain perception and mediates the hypolocomotor, analgesic, and aversive effects of synthetic opioids. Variants in this gene are associated with alcohol dependence and opiate addiction. Alternative splicing and translational readthrough events produce multiple isoforms, including a C-terminally extended form.
