This antibody detects endogenous levels of TLR4 only when phosphorylated at Ser800.


Target Information

TLR4 is a member of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family, playing a fundamental role in pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity. TLRs are conserved across species and share structural and functional similarities. TLR4 is most abundantly expressed in the placenta and in myelomonocytic leukocytes. It is a key component of the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) receptor complex, along with CD14 and LY96, mediating signal transduction induced by LPS from gram-negative bacteria. TLR4 recognizes pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and triggers cytokine production necessary for effective immune responses. Mutations in the TLR4 gene can affect LPS responsiveness. The receptor is expressed in monocytes, some B-cells, and placenta. TLR4-deficient mice show increased susceptibility to Gram-negative sepsis.
