Target Information
This gene belongs to the forkhead/winged-helix (FOX) family of transcription factors, characterized by highly conserved FOX DNA-binding domains. Members of this family regulate embryogenesis and may play roles in human cancer. The FOXD4L1 gene is located in a region of chromosome 2 associated with the fusion of ancestral chromosomes forming human chromosome 2. This region is duplicated in other areas of the human genome, mainly in subtelomeric and pericentromeric regions, resulting in multiple gene copies.
