Product Specific Information

This peptide corresponds to 15 amino acids near the carboxy terminus of human TLR3.
PEP-0298 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20183.

Target Information

TLR3 (Toll-like receptor 3, CD283) is a member of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family which plays a fundamental role in pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity.
TLRs are highly conserved from drosophila to humans and share structural and functional similarities.
TLRs recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) that are expressed on infectious agents and mediate the production of cytokines necessary for effective immunity.

TLR3 is most abundantly expressed in placenta and pancreas, and is restricted to the dendritic subpopulation of leukocytes.
It recognizes dsRNA associated with viral infection, inducing activation of NF-kappaB and production of type I interferons.
TLR3 may play a role in host defense against viruses, including Influenza A and West Nile Virus, and mediates viral entry mechanisms.

TLR3 signaling differs from other human TLRs in that it utilizes TRIF instead of MyD88, leading to activation of IRF-3 and NF-kB pathways and induction of inflammatory cytokines that promote dendritic cell maturation.
