Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and plays a vital role in brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene have been found in tumors including anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. Chromosomal rearrangement commonly produces a fusion gene between ALK and nucleophosmin (NPM), resulting in an oncogenic NPM-ALK product. ALK is a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK. It is essential for neuronal function and brain development.
