Target Information
Rheb encodes a member of the small GTPase superfamily and produces a lipid-anchored, cell membrane protein containing five repeats of the RAS-related GTP-binding region. This protein is essential for growth and cell cycle regulation through its role in the insulin/TOR/S6K signaling pathway. It has GTPase activity, cycling between GDP-bound and GTP-bound forms, and requires farnesylation for this activity. Three pseudogenes have been mapped: two on chromosome 10 and one on chromosome 22.
