Product Specific Information

The HIT3a monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD3e, a 20 kDa subunit of the TCR complex. The ε chain, along with γ and δ subunits, is essential for proper assembly and surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes and mature T cells. Crosslinking of TCR with HIT3a induces intracellular signaling leading to activation and proliferation.

Target Information

The CD3 complex is critical for transducing antigen-recognition signals in T cells and regulating TCR surface expression. It consists of CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits encoded on chromosome 11. These subunits contain cytoplasmic tails with tyrosine-based motifs that mediate signal transduction. CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes, but not on B or NK cells. Defects in CD3 genes can lead to immunodeficiency.
