Target Information

Calcium-permeable channels such as TRPV6 participate in neurotransmission, muscle contraction, and exocytosis by providing calcium as an intracellular second messenger.
Depending on the tissue, transcellular calcium transport may be regulated by vitamin D, parathyroid hormone (PTH), or calcitonin (CALCA).
TRPV6 is a calcium selective cation channel involved in Ca(2+) uptake in various tissues, including intestinal Ca(2+) reabsorption.
The channel is activated by low internal calcium levels, possibly including intracellular calcium store depletion, and exhibits inward rectification.
Inactivation includes both rapid Ca(2+)-dependent and slower Ca(2+)-calmodulin-dependent mechanisms, which may be regulated by phosphorylation.
In vitro, it is slowly inhibited by Mg(2+) in a voltage-independent manner.
Heteromeric assembly with TRPV5 modifies channel properties; TRPV5-TRPV6 heteromultimeric concatemers exhibit voltage-dependent gating.
Interacts with TRPV5, S100A10, ANAX2-S100A10 heterotetramer, BSPRY, and calmodulin.
Interaction with S100A10 is required for plasma membrane trafficking.
