For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The cystatin superfamily comprises cysteine protease inhibitors, including three main types:

• Type 1 (intracellular): Cystatins A and B
• Type 2 (extracellular): Cystatins C, D, E/M, F, G, S, SN, and SA
• Type 3 (intravascular): Kininogens

Cystatins inhibit papain-family cysteine peptidases (e.g., cathepsins) and some legumain family enzymes.
Cystatin SA, S, and SN are mainly found in saliva; Cystatin S and SN are also present in tears, urine, and seminal fluid.
Cystatin C is expressed in brain, thymus, ovary, epididymis, and vas deferens.
Cystatin D protects oral cavity proteins, while Cystatin E/M and F regulate cathepsin inhibition.
Fetuins, also part of this family, influence bone metabolism, insulin receptor regulation, and systemic inflammation.
High and low molecular weight kininogens both inhibit thrombin- and plasmin-induced platelet aggregation.
