Target Information
GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase)는 해당과정(glycolysis)에 관여하는 촉매 효소로, 동일한 37 kDa 소단위체 4개로 구성된 사량체 형태로 존재합니다. 이 효소는 NADPH 존재하에 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate를 glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate로 가역적으로 환원시킵니다.
GAPDH는 해당과정 외에도 DNA 복제 및 수리, 핵 RNA 수출, 세포막 융합, 미세소관 결합 등 다양한 세포 기능에 관여합니다. 또한 세포 사멸(apoptosis) 및 신경퇴행성 질환에서의 유전자 발현 조절에도 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. GAPDH는 Alzheimer’s disease의 원인 단백질인 amyloid precursor protein 및 Huntington’s disease의 Huntingtin 단백질과도 결합하는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
GAPDH는 대부분의 조직에서 높은 수준으로 발현되므로, Western blot 분석 시 단백질 적재 대조군으로 널리 사용됩니다.
