Product Specific Information

This SNKY35 monoclonal antibody reacts with human p35, a component of two of the four members of the interleukin (IL)-12 family of cytokines. IL-12 family members are heterodimeric cytokines composed of an alpha-chain (e.g., p35) and a beta-chain (e.g., p40). The alpha-chain proteins are limiting factors for secretion, requiring co-expression with beta-chains for cytokine release.

IL-12 (IL-12p70) secretion is induced by IFN-γ and TLR3, 4, or 7 agonists, and inhibited by Th2 cytokines. IL-12 is essential for Th1 differentiation and maintenance. p40 can be secreted independently as monomer or homodimer, potentially antagonizing IL-12 function.

p35 also forms IL-35 with EBI3, produced by regulatory T cells and involved in immunoregulation. IL-35 suppresses effector T cell proliferation and induces regulatory phenotypes in naive CD4+ cells.

Target Information

Interleukin 12A (IL-12A) is a signaling cytokine of the Interleukin-6 superfamily. It forms the 35-kD alpha subunit of IL-12 heterodimer and acts as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells, enhancing NK/LAK cell activity and IFN-γ production. IL-12A contributes to Th1/Th2 differentiation and regulates Stat4 phosphorylation. Together with EBI3, IL-12A forms IL-35, produced by Treg cells for immunosuppressive activity.
