Target Information
SIP1은 SMN 단백질 및 여러 Gemin 단백질로 구성된 SMN 복합체의 구성 단백질 중 하나입니다. 이 복합체는 핵 내의 gems(gemini of coiled bodies)이라 불리는 구조에 위치하며, spliceosomal snRNPs의 조립과 pre-mRNA 스플라이싱에 필요합니다. SIP1은 SMN과 직접 상호작용하며 SMN 복합체 형성에 필수적입니다. 마우스 모델에서 SIP1 유전자의 결손은 snRNP 조립 장애와 운동신경 퇴화를 유발하였으며, SIP1 mRNA의 발현 억제는 정상적인 운동축삭을 보이는 반면 SMN mRNA 억제는 비정상적인 축삭 성장을 초래하였습니다. 이는 SIP1이 SMN 복합체 외에서도 추가적인 역할을 가질 수 있음을 시사합니다.
