Target Information
RNA-binding component of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF-3) complex, required for multiple steps in protein synthesis initiation. The eIF-3 complex associates with the 40S ribosome to form the 43S pre-initiation complex (PIC), facilitating mRNA recruitment and AUG recognition. It also plays roles in ribosomal subunit recycling and prevents premature subunit joining. The complex regulates translation of mRNAs involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis through RNA stem-loop binding mechanisms.
