Cross-reactivity with Histone H3 from other sources has not been determined.
Target Information
Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of chromosomal fiber in eukaryotes.
Each nucleosome consists of ~146 bp of DNA wrapped around an octamer of core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, H4).
Chromatin is further compacted by linker histone H1.
This intronless gene encodes a member of the histone H3 family, found in a histone cluster on chromosome 1.
Transcripts lack polyA tails and contain a palindromic termination element.
This record represents the telomeric copy of duplicated histone genes.
