Target Information
The MAK gene encodes a serine/threonine protein kinase related to kinases involved in cell cycle regulation. It is expressed almost exclusively in the testis, primarily in germ cells. Studies in mouse and rat homologs show localization to the chromosomes during meiosis in spermatogenesis, specifically to the synaptonemal complex. Additionally, expression has been observed in developing sensory epithelia, suggesting a broader functional role.
