PA1-343 detects cytochrome P450 (P450) 3A4 from human and rat tissues and cells, and to a lesser extent, other P450 isoforms.
It has been validated for Western blot applications, detecting an approximately 46 kDa protein corresponding to P450 3A4 from rat liver extracts.
The immunogen is a purified, His-tagged, full-length human P450 3A4 fusion protein.

Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. These monooxygenases catalyze reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids, and other lipids.
CYP3A4 localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and its expression is induced by glucocorticoids and certain pharmacological agents.
It is responsible for metabolizing approximately half of all drugs in use, including acetaminophen, codeine, cyclosporin A, diazepam, and erythromycin.
The enzyme also metabolizes some steroids and carcinogens.
This gene is part of a cluster of cytochrome P450 genes on chromosome 7q21.1. Previously identified CYP3A3 is now considered a transcript variant of CYP3A4.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
