Thrombospondin is a protein from platelet α-granules.
It is composed of three identical subunits bound by interchain disulfides.
Secreted at sites of platelet activation and aggregation, it is involved in chemotaxis, adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation of leukocytes, fibroblasts, smooth muscle, and endothelial cells.
